Two injured by lightning at Jamboree

Two Boy Scouts were injured by lightning today at the Boy Scout Jamboree at about 4:30 p.m., said Gregg Shields, National Spokesman for the Boy Scouts of America.

The scouts, whose names were not released, were taken by ambulance to Mary Washington Hospital, where they are listed in satisfactory condition.

A third scout, 15-year-old Joshua Batkin of El Paso, Texas was in his tent in sub-camp nine when it was struck by lightning. He was not injured. Scouts had issued a weather warning and sounded sirens at 4:27pm to ensure that scouts were under cover.
