Martha L. Lando

Martha Lotz Lando, 84, of Fredericksburg died Sunday, June 23, 2002, at Carriage Hill Nursing Home in Spotsylvania County.

Mrs. Lando, born in Utica, N.Y., was a former resident of Albany and Schenectady, N.Y., and Hyannis, Mass.

Following a series of strokes in 1995, she moved to her son's home in Fredericksburg.

She was a 1936 graduate of the University of New York, Albany College of Pharmacy, with a degree in pharmaceutical chemistry.

She was a member of the New England Watercolor Society and won many prizes for oil and watercolor paintings. She was also a hospice chaplain at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.

She was the widow of Santino F. Lando.

Survivors include two daughters, Elissa Snowden of Marietta, Ga., and Patricia Ann Lando of Albany; a son, David W. Lando of Fredericksburg; a sister, Elizabeth L. Blodgett of Watertown, N.Y.; a brother, Francis T. Lotz of Delmar, N.Y.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Albany, N.Y.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to St. Peter's Hospice, 315 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, N.Y. 12208.
