Viewers of one of television's most recognized programs are being asked to help fill in the blanks about suspected serial killer Richard Marc Evonitz.
"America's Most Wanted" will feature the Evonitz story Saturday night. Producers for the Fox program spent two days in South Carolina and Virginia taping segments for the special. Evonitz, who shot and killed himself last month while fleeing from police, is suspected of killing three Spotsylvania girls, Sofia Silva and Kristen and Kati Lisk, in 1996 and 1997. It will be the seventh time "America's Most Wanted" has featured the Silva and Lisk killings. FBI officials say the agency has completed tests on some of the evidence gathered on Evonitz, and may announce the results next week. "We don't want to discuss the findings on any individual analysis until we get a more comprehensive picture," said Donald Thompson, special agent in charge of the FBI's Richmond office. Evonitz killed himself as police pursued him in connection with the kidnapping and rape of a 15-year-old Columbia, S.C., girl. The girl and the two South Carolina detectives who handled that case will appear on "America's Most Wanted." The girl, who managed to escape after being held for 18 hours, will not be identified. --Kari Pugh
