Stafford Highlanders registration scheduled

The Stafford Highlanders will hold a registration for new and returning wrestlers, ages 6-15, at the Stafford Gymnastics and Recreation Center, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. A parents meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m.

The cost is $75 for new wrestlers and $65 for returning wrestlers. Each new wrestler must have a Social Security number and two copies of his birth certificate. The first practice is Nov. 12.

Basketball registration deadline set for Nov. 11

Registration for the YMCA Winter Basketball League will be held Sept. 16-Nov. 11 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Boys and girls ages 7-17 are eligible to register for the league. The fee is $30 for YMCA members and $50 for nonmembers. For more information, call the YMCA at 371-9622, ext. 32.

Girls lacrosse meeting to be held Oct. 10

There will be a meeting at the Fredericksburg-Stafford Park Authority building on Butler Road, next to Brooks Park, Oct. 10, 7:30 p.m., for girls in grades 8-12 who are interested in playing lacrosse. Stafford hosts visitors from Stafford, England

The Stafford Virginia-Stafford England Friendship Association will host 31 adults from its sister city in Stafford, England, for two weeks.

This exchange will focus on educational and social activities. The visitors will be hosted by local families.

Stafford Board of Supervisors and Chairman Robert Gibbons will recognize the delegation, headed by the mayor of Stafford, England, Ralph Cooke, at the Riverside Center Dinner Theater on Oct. 10, 5:30 p.m.

JMC hosts women's leadership colloquium

Mary Washington College's James Monroe Center for Graduate and Professional Studies will host the Leadership Colloquium for Professional Women on Nov. 7, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The annual event is designed to help women develop skills in the core traits of leadership through workshops and networking with other women leaders and managers.

Registration is due by Oct. 31. The fee of $99 covers breakfast and lunch, all materials and sessions, and a reception.
