Colonel Orval Wayne “Mac” McCormack, USMC, Ret., 59, of Spotsylvania
died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at Mary Washington Hospital. Col. McCormack
served 30 years in the Marine Corps. A 1967 graduate of the U.S. Naval
Academy, he received his masters from George Washington University. He
was an active member and vice-commander of Spotsylvania American Legion
Post #320.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia C. McCormack; son, Chris McCormack of Manassas; daughter, Melissa McCormack of Stafford; mother, Thelma McCormack of Pryor, Okla.; brothers, Terry McCormack of Shalimar, Fla. and Tom McCormack of Adair, Okla.; sisters, Norma Callicoat of Stillwater, Okla. and Kay Rogers of Pryor, Okla. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, with State Chaplain Dr. David F. Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Quantico National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with American Legion Post #320 conducting a memorial service at 7 p.m. Online guest book at covenantfuneralservice.com.
