Woman detained in sniper hung

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) - Investigators searching for a sniper terrorizing the Washington suburbs found a tarot card with the words, "Dear policeman, I am God," near a bullet casing outside the school where a 13-year-old boy was critically wounded, a source familiar with the investigation confirmed Wednesday. Police were also searching a wooded area behind a school in Prince George's County after reports Wednesday of a man seen carrying a long black bag. A woman driving in the area was detained for questioning.

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) - Another shooting has occurred in Prince George's County, Md., this morning at a motel, CNN has reported this morning, but authorities have said it is not related to the sniper shootings.

Meanwhile, the sniper terrorizing the Washington suburbs reportedly left behind a Tarot card with the words, "Dear policeman, I am God," and a bullet casing outside the school where a 13-year-old boy was critically wounded.

Montgomery County Police Chief Charles Moose, who has been leading the investigation, wouldn't confirm the media reports, saying he was concerned that unapproved information was leaked.

"We certainly hope and pray that none of this will jeopardize the case," Moose said Wednesday on CBS's "The Early Show."

Later, on CNN, Moose lashed out at some media outlets and expert commentators.

He said he was angry at whomever leaked information about the Tarot card and also at media commentators.

Asked by news anchor Paula Zahn to respond to comments by Clinton Van Zandt, a CNN commentator and former FBI profiler, the chief refused.

"I won't even respond to anything that person has to say," Moose said. "I have so litte respect for what he has to say."

The taunting message, first reported Tuesday night on WUSA-TV, was left on a Tarot card known as the Death card. Unidentified sources cited by The Washington Post confirmed the report.

The shell casing was being checked against the National Ballistics Identification Network, a database of crime-scene firearms evidence maintained by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
