The announcement comes in a letter being sent home today to all parents. In the letter Sander also says that there will be an increased police presence on school grounds and all outside activities curtailed. All after school clubs and intramurals are cancelled and all field trips rescheduled or cancelled. In addition all school boards in the region have instructed their superintendents "not" to allow their athletic teams to travel to Fredericksburg or points along the I-95 corridor. Sander says all home games have been rescheduled to a neutral site or to the visitors site. All practices will be conducted indoors or at alternative sites. All contests scheduled against teams from Stafford or Spotsylvania will be relocated or cancelled on a week to week basis. The Northern Neck Girls' Basketball Tournament scheduled for Walker-Grant will be moved to another site. The Battlefield District Filed Hockey Tournament scheduled for Maury Stadium will be rescheduled or moved to an alternate site. Finally, Sander says he's "sorry that these tragic times have forced such drastic actions. I pray that there will soon be an an end to this madness."
