Date published: 10/22/2002 (Rockville, Maryland-AP) -- Another message from the head of the sniper task force to the person police believe is the serial sniper. This time, Montgomery County, Maryland, Police Chief Charles Moose says "it is not possible electronically" to comply with one option that the person has given police. Moose encouraged the person to communicate with police again at a phone number that was used before. He says police are willing to set up an 800 number for the person to call. Moose also suggested that a private post office box or another secure method could be established. Moose said the person "indicated that this is about more than violence." He says "it is important that we do this without anyone else getting hurt." A senior law enforcement official tells The Associated Press that a note left Saturday, apparently by the sniper, demands ten (M) million dollars. The note also contained the chilling words: "Your children are not safe anywhere at any time."
