Date published: 10/24/2002 (Rockville, Md.-AP) -- The weapon seized in a car early today in Frederick County, Maryland, has been linked to several sniper shootings. ATF Special Agent Mike Bouchard made the announcement at a briefing tonight in Rockville. Montgomery County Police Chief Charles Moose says John Allen Muhammad and the juvenile found in the car with him are -- "now considered suspects" in the string of sniper shootings. Moose says prosecutors from all jurisdictions involved will meet tomorrow to discuss what charges will be brought. Bouchard says the weapon was a Bushmaster XM-15, .223-caliber rifle, and the ballistics tests were done at ATF's Rockville lab. He says the weapon is linked to shootings in Spotsylvania, Aspen Hill, Silver Spring, Kensington, D-C, Bowie, Manassas, Falls Church, and Ashland.
