Date published: 10/30/2002 Congresswoman JoAnn Davis is leading a local Congressional delegation effort to secure funding for local law enforcement to help meet the costs of the sniper investigation. The letter also signed by Congressmen Eric Cantor, Jim Moran and Tom Davis, was sent to Attorney General John Ashcroft requesting a re-programming of funds to help finance the investigative costs. In the letter, Davis says the "area has undergone a series of traumatic events." She adds that "local law enforcement rose to the occasion and performed with great professionalism and skill." Davis says millions of dollars have been spent in overtime expenses in bringing John Allen Muhammad and John Lee Malvo to justice.
