Make developers turn their boards into reality

Sue Connors was correct in her concerns and comments about development ["Don't believe pretty drawings of Dogwood's Chancellorsville," Nov. 13]. We've seen this pattern over and over--the "artist's conception" that bears little or no resemblance to the ultimate project.
I'd like to issue a challenge to The Free Lance-Star. Search through your archives and retrieve the "artist's conceptions" of both Gateway Village and Central Park.
Use your award-winning photographic resources to capture those same views as they exist today. Then publish them for all of us to see: what we were promised vs. what we got, compared, visually, side by side.
If the newspaper won't take on the challenge, perhaps a group of journalism students or a government class might accept it.
Once we've seen these comparisons, I suspect we'll all graphically observe that it's time to start talking about how we go about holding the developers' feet to the fire and demanding they deliver as promised.
