First Luck Stone, now the Town of Chancellorsville

Date published: 11/29/2002

The wife and I always dreamed of the day when we would own our home out in the country, and we thought that dream had come true in August 1977 when we moved into our newly built home in the Five-Mile Fork area. We also were encouraged by the motto of Spotsylvania County: "Service, Integrity, Pride."

And now 25 years later, I must ask where is the "service" to this Spotsylvania County resident when I am mandated by law to refrain from my water usage while, at the same time, the obviously out-of-touch Planning Commission sends a recommendation for the approval of over 2,000 more homes right down from my home at Chancellorsville.

Then I ask, where is the "integrity" in lusting for the money from this development? You know the supposed taxes and proffers this overkill development says it will bring, although I'm curious as to how all these new vehicles will help me navigate through the 77,000-plus vehicles I now encounter daily on the State Route 3 corridor.

Where are county authorities' priorities? It surely doesn't seem they're too interested in how regular people feel. That was evident when Luck Stone was shoved down our throats. It seems Spotsylvanians are getting ready to get mugged again.
