Dogwood deceives about Chancellorsville plan's outcome

I was astounded to see the false information contained in a recent color brochure promoting the proposed Town of Chancellorsville.
The claim that there is the "potential" for $10 million in revenue for education in Spotsylvania County is completely false. Legitimate studies have shown that this town would likely provide no revenue at all to the county and might cost taxpayers millions.
Another claim is that only a small percentage of Spotsylvanians are against this development--also not true. There is a growing number of residents who oppose the plan because they are educated about what its impact would be--congested roads, devastated battlefield property, loss of tourism, increased water restrictions, unending sprawl and higher taxes to pay for schools, buildings, and water and sewer for this town. The negative impacts far outweigh any positive aspects of this proposal.
There are no guarantees that this project would ever be completed or that it would be successful. Dogwood should be ashamed for providing misleading information to the public. After seeing this slick campaign, I'm more ready than ever to join forces with those opposing this new town.
