Date published: 4/3/2003 (South of Baghdad-AP) -- Although some front-line units are being put on heightened alert against the threat of chemical weapons -- some U.S. Marines headed toward Baghdad don't think the threat will materialize. One member of the First Battalion, Fifth Marines says he's "not really too worried about it." George Marron of California says from what he's heard, he doesn't think the Iraqis will be able to do much. And Lance Corporal Joe Scogin says he doubt that Saddam Hussein himself has the power to use chemical weapons at this point. And he says Saddam's generals know that if they want to be "treated fairly" when the war is over -- they'd better not use those weapons either. As they approach Baghdad, the Marines wonder what kind of resistance they'll see there. Chad Vanbuskirk of Nokesville, Virginia of them says it remains to be seen if they'll "stand and fight" or just "turn it over."
