Saturday morning's North Stafford Scholarship 5-k run turned into a brother-sister act.

Jason Van Horn and Jen Stearns each captured first place in their respective races, winning the third race of the Coldwell Banker CHI Grand Prix Series.

Van Horn bested the men's field with a time of 16 minutes, 2 seconds on Saturday. Chad Walton was just eight seconds behind.

Stearns won in 19:48. She was 37 seconds ahead of Sarah Pratte.

College women's lacrosse

Mary Washington made sure things were settled early on yesterday. The 11th-ranked Eagles scored 12 first-half goals en route to a 16-5 nonconference victory over Greensboro.

Erica Larsen led MWC (6-3) with four goals and two assists, while teammate Britt Gottlieb added three scores and three assists. Other MWC goal-scorers included Jessica Goon (three), Melissa Block (two), Kami McNinch (two), Emily Nagle and Kate Clute.

College men's tennis

Eighth-ranked Mary Washington won its third match of the weekend at the College of New Jersey, as the Eagles downed Salisbury 7-0 yesterday.

The Eagles (9-5) won all but one singles match in straight sets. Singles winners included: Conor Smith, Kevin Loden, Paul Bristow, Dan Uyar, Matt Rogers and Tim Ryan.

College women's tennis

Mary Washington defeated Capital Athletic Conference foe Salisbury 5-4 yesterday.

Singles winners included: Karlie Schneider, Nancy Clark and Dena Heath.
