Let's stop big Wal-Mart from expanding at Ferry Farm

May 7, 2004 1:09 am

I recently called 1-800/WALMART to register my strong objection to the Ferry Farm Wal-Mart becoming a Supercenter ["Rolling forward," April 12].

With so much work being done to protect our river, we can't allow more asphalt to be laid so close to the Rappahannock with all its runoff. I love Wal-Mart and spend ridiculous amounts of money there almost weekly, but I love our river more and will boycott all Wal-Mart stores if ours is allowed to expand.

Also, I have friends who live in Spotsylvania County who often drive past their Supercenter for what we call a kinder and gentler shopping experience at the small and friendly Ferry Farm Wal-Mart.

Apparently a Supercenter is to be built at Massaponax. We don't need another Supercenter in the Fredericksburg area.

If you are a river-loving resident of Stafford, please contact your county supervisor.
