Culpeper officer injured in motorcycle accident

A Culpeper town police officer suffered broken bones in his toes yesterday during a motorcycle accident shortly after noon.

Office Charles Lowman was responding to a domestic assault in progress when the accident occurred.

The officer was riding north on West Street when a vehicle pulled out in front of his Harley-Davidson police motorcycle, according to Capt. Ricky Pinksaw.

In order to stop, Lowman laid the Harley down on its side and injured his foot in the process. There was minor damage to both the motorcycle and the car.

Lisa Sue Richards, driver of the second vehicle, was charged with failure to yield the right of way.
