I wonder how many windows at the University of Mary Washington distinguished professor emeritus Lewis P. Fickett has tossed out the "science" part of "political science" over the years. My guess is all of them.
If professor Fickett has evidence that President Bush "allegedly" served in the National Guard, I'd love to read it. Too bad he left any out in his commentary. "Discussing the issues" is exactly what the distinguished professor did not do, by the way.
He claims the Republicans are "engaged in an expensive campaign of falsehood and vilification concerning Sen. Kerry's Vietnam War record." That's interesting, since Sen. John Kerry recently changed the story about his Christmas in Cambodia and his first Purple Heart award.
Who knows what else is true or false, since Sen. Kerry won't release all his military records, which apparently doesn't bother the distinguished professor as much as four George Bush election investigations by the media that have turned up no scandal.
The Republican "big lie" campaign, according to the distinguished professor, was in full force against Sen. Max Cleland of Georgia in 2002, just as it is against Sen. Kerry now.
Was mentioning 11 Cleland votes against a homeland security bill off-limits in a U.S. Senate race? The patriotism of former Sen. Cleland was never in question then. His voting record was. So is John Kerry's today. So is George Bush's.
How quaint that some records are more off-limits than others.
