After accepting plea bargain, county resident faces long prison sentence. Prosecution drops some charges. Date published: 2/1/2005 By KEITH EPPS A man who videotaped himself having sex with a young teenager pleaded guilty to multiple charges yesterday in Spotsylvania Circuit Court. Gary Dean Wilkinson, 43, of Spotsylvania pleaded guilty to eight counts of rape and one count of sodomy. As part of a plea agreement, 35 other charges were dropped. According to court records, Wilkinson moved to Spotsylvania from Illinois in August 2003. In June, a videotape changed hands. A woman--the daughter of the man who owned the property Wilkinson lived on--received it from a member of her church. She was told to view the tape, which would reveal a grave secret. Court records don't say how the person got the tape, which showed a variety of sex acts between Wilkinson and a girl. The woman knew Wilkinson and the girl, whose identity is not being released because of the nature of the crimes against her. The woman called police and turned the tape over to Detective Troy Skebo. He executed a search warrant at Wilkinson's home and found three more videotapes depicting sex between Wilkinson and the same girl. The girl told police that Wilkinson had sex with her about four times a week between August 2003 and June of last year, court records state. She said she went along with his requests because he got angry when she expressed reluctance. Court records state that Wilkinson took the girl to an abortion clinic in Virginia Beach in March of last year, when she had a pregnancy terminated. Wilkinson will be sentenced at a later date.
