Feral cat problem is really a people problem
Feral cat problem is really a people problem

I have been feeding feral cats in the area for years ["Feral cats get second chance in the Fredericksburg area," March 5].

I see others feeding them, but that's all they do. The community needs to trap, adopt, neuter, and spay. Be responsible for the cats you feed. They depend on you.

Affordable sterilization is available in the Richmond area. Males cost $20, and females $30. If you trap several, it's worth the trip.

Neutering and spaying your pet cat or the feral you feed is essential to humanely controlling the ever-growing cat population.

We have uncaring people to blame for the problem, not the cats.
