Homes in the Fredericksburg area keep getting more and more expensive. Date published: 3/3/2005 The average price of a house in the Fredericksburg area is up 20% compared to last year. Prudential Broker Harrison Simpson says the zeros keep adding on to the end of each price tag of a house in this area. He says the average price for a house is $300,000 dollars, nearly $50,000 more than last year. Simpson says you should't expect prices to keep skyrocketing. He sees the market slowing down. Simpson reminds interested home buyers that the affordability index is really good right now, so don't be discouraged by the price tag. He says the area's appeal and growth are a few of the contributors to the increase. Nationwide, median home prices gained nearly 9%, in this area prices doubled that, the median price went up almost 22%. Simpson says even with the growth, he just hopes the Fredericksburg area can just stay quaint and peaceful as its always been to him.
