The Orange Town Council is looking at the possiblity to raise the real estate tax. Date published: 3/10/2005 The Orange Town Council is looking at the idea of raising the real estate tax. Orange County Supervisors decided not to increase taxes, but the Town voted to advertise an 8 cents increase on assessments. This means the owner of a $100,000 house would pay $80 more a year. The increase would not only balance the budget for the Town but also pay some debt off. The Council must advertise a tax rate before April 15 and can lower the rate once the budget is approved but can NOT raise it.
