Mrs. Delores Anderson Lewis, 75, of Fredericksburg, formerly of Richmond, Va., and Gary, Ind., passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2005, at Mary Washington Hospital.
She was the daughter of immigrant Swedish parents, the late Paul and Hedvig Kalen Anderson, and the widow of the late John Edward Lewis, to whom she was married for 28 years. Mrs. Lewis worked for H&R Block for 20 years, serving as office manager in Richmond. She was a past member and officer of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, both in Gary. In the past few years one of her greatest pleasures was a 6,000-mile car trip she completed in 2002 with her granddaughter Laura, covering the entire length of Route 66.
She is survived by her daughter, Karin L.M. Brown and her husband, William, of Fredericksburg; her son, Brian John Lewis and his wife, Barbara, of Chicago; her three grandchildren, Laura, Christopher and Heather Lewis; a future adopted granddaughter who will arrive later this year from China; her sister, Lynn Anderson Patzert of Clinton Township, Mich.; numerous beloved nieces and nephews here in the United States; and a family still in Sweden. Two brothers, Carl Robert Anderson and Arthur Paul Anderson, predeceased her.
The family will receive friends at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania, on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at Wilderness Baptist Church on Plank Road in Spotsylvania.
