Seniors Calendar

Ballroom Dance Classes, Tuesdays, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Senior Center in the Marshall Center, for Spotsylvania residents ages 55 and older. Fee: $3 per class; walk-in registrations accepted. 898-7529, ext. 224 or 232.

Ceramics and Crafts Classes, Wednesdays, 10 a.m, Enon Center on Truslow Road, Stafford. A volunteer will give instruction on ceramics. Others attend to share crafts and socialize. Stafford residents only. 373-2229.

Team Line Dancing for Spotsylvania residents ages 55 and over on Wednesdays at the Senior Center in the Marshall Center, 11:30-12:30 p.m. except the first Wednesday of the month, when it's from 1 to 2 p.m. Free.

Socializing

Bingo at the Senior Center in Spotsylvania County for players 55 and older. Meets on Mondays and Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Marshall Center. Participants should bring an item to donate for prizes. 898-7529.

Attendees should bring food to be prepared, such as eggs, bacon, butter, jelly, pancake mix, fresh fruit, or make a small donation. Nonbreakfast foods, salads and other healthy foods are welcome. Trips

AARP, Chapter 3396, is sponsoring a seven day trip to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Aug. 23-29. Price: $595, includes guided tour of Ottawa, changing of the guard at Parliament Hill, Museum of Civilization, gaming at Casino Lac Leamy and cruise through Thousand Islands. Volunteers needed by Rappahannock Area Agency on Aging to advocate on behalf of residents in long-term-care facilities, to counsel seniors on Medicare, Medicaid and long-term-care insurance issues, and to speak to groups of seniors on Medicare fraud prevention. Volunteers needed by SERVE Inc. to help set up an outreach program for blood pressure and glucose testing for seniors and uninsured, as a way of reaching residents who need prescription assistance and as a preventive measure. Training in prescription assistance will be offered. 288-9603.
