Professor who demeaned military owes an apology

Date published: 7/15/2005

Reading professor Thomas Johnson's comments on the causes of war finally answered the question why we have wars and why we speak English ["The brutality of war will continue as long as society endorses it," July 13].

Mothers cause wars! Mothers raise "psychologically crippled and mentally debilitated creature[s], eager to obey or give orders."

Just imagine if we had never had these debilitated creatures; the U.S. would have remained a British colony. Every American (and most likely all people worldwide) alive today would be bilingual, speaking Japanese and German in an Axis-dominated dictatorship.

I think this is a shameful way for professor Johnson to hustle his book, but at least now we know enough about it not to buy it, since the title might have lead us to believe that he is exposing the extreme-left orientation of many in the academic community.

Note that I don't use the world "liberal" in describing the "extreme left," because it is anything but liberal.

The professor owes all Americans, and specifically American mothers and American soldiers, an apology.
