Flossie Southworth

Flossie Carneal Southworth, 85, of Ruther Glen died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville.

Born in Caroline County, she attended St. Paul United Meth-odist Church, where she sang in the choir and was active with the United Methodist Women. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 27 years, serving as postmaster of Ruther Glen for nine years.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond W. Southworth; a daughter, Betty Anne Archer and her husband, Raymond, of Hampton; a son, James Montegny and his wife, Sue, of Lutz, Fla.; two sisters, Garry Smith of Ruther Glen and Myrtle Lichtenberger of Petersburg; seven granddaughters, Karen Levasseur, Karel Curtis and her husband, Joe, Kristi Pham and her husband, Pete, Kelly Huss and her husband, Ben, Kim McCue and her husband, Ryan, Brett Montegny and her husband, Mark, and Jami Montegny; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. Burial will follow in Wright's Burying Ground.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, Sept. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wright's Burying Ground Perpetual Care Fund, Box 1, Ruther Glen, Va. 22546.
