Fort commander says 'thank you' will suffice
Base commander says telling a veteran "thank you" is the best way to show appreciation to those in the military on Veterans' Day.

Date published: 11/10/2005

BOWLING GREEN, Va. (AP) - The commander at Fort A.P. Hill in Caroline County says telling a veteran "thank you" is the best way to show appreciation to those in the military on Veterans' Day.

Lieutenant Colonel James Mis says he doesn't consider himself a veteran since he's still in active service. Mis says "there's no more fulfilling job" than serving in the military.

He says veterans come in all ages these days. Mis says it's not unusual to find 18 and 19-year-old veterans along with those who have served in World War Two.
