Telecommuting seems an obvious fix to road fatigue

Date published: 1/17/2006

Commuting is a part-time job on top of a regular job. For many, there is no choice because of family and house prices.

Unfortunately, traveling along failed road and rail systems makes commuting more difficult.

And commuting is getting harder because more people are traveling greater distances to get to jobs.

But if a person's job involves sitting behind a desk all day, they can telecommute.

Telecommuting eases the pressure on roads and rails. It gives people the ability to live long enough to retire. It saves on overhead.

Unfortunately, business and government do not support it. Just look at all the people going north in the morning and the number of backaches coming home in the evening.
