Could 'End Times' scenario involve an EMP attack?

Date published: 2/13/2006

I was pleased to read Mansoor Ijaz and Lt. Gen. James Abrahamson's op-ed, since it reaffirms what I have believed for some time ["A disabling electromagnetic pulse could be terror's next weapon," Jan. 24].

The article stated the effects of an electromagnetic pulse from a rogue or missing nuclear warhead detonated several hundred miles above our coastline. Such an attack could be delivered by a cheap ($100,000) Scud missile launched from a vessel in international waters.

Within a several-hundred-mile radius of the detonation, EMP would not kill any civilians or destroy our physical structures, but it would render useless all unshielded electronic and electrical systems.

This would immediately shut down our entire infrastructure of communications, transportation, utilities, financial systems, hospitals, and any system that's computer-dependent and not properly shielded for an EMP attack.

Most Bible students have concluded that the U.S. is not mentioned by allegory or reference in the biblical End Times predictions. This is amazing, since every prophecy of the thousands within the Bible have been absolutely and precisely fulfilled, with the only exceptions being those related to the events of the Rapture and the time thereafter.

I believe the EMP will initiate End Times with the Rapture, followed by seven years of torment and tribulation.

For the biblically saved individuals (I estimate them to be less than 5 percent of our population), this is good news, because we can see that our "homecoming" may be soon!

When the EMP occurs, the U.S. will be rendered neutral (with significant internal strife) and will be unable to provide any significant support to Israel or in the battle of Armageddon.

Hence, our country has no part of the Bible's End Times scenario that describes the events relating to Israel and Israel's enemies and supporters.
