Chester Wakefield
Chester Arthur Wakefield Jr., 58, of Fredericksburg, formerly of Roanoke, passed away Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Wakefield was a graduate of Liberty University, a Marine Corps veteran and worked for 30 years as a sales representative for Yellow Pages. He loved fishing, golf and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Shirley Cline Wakefield; his two sons and their wives, Carey A. Wakefield and Lynette of Fredericksburg, and Chad A. Wakefield and Sonia of Phoenix, Ariz.; his mother, Irene Hoy Wakefield of Crimora; his brother, Scott N. Wakefield of Crimora; his two sisters, Elona DeWitt of Waynesboro and Jill Mullins of Crimora; and his four grandchildren, Katarina, Cailey, Colby and Cheystin Wakefield. He was preceded in death by his father, Chester A. Wakefield Sr., and his brother, William "Bill" Wesley Wakefield. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania. The Rev. Al Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
