Pauline K. Curtis

Pauline Kirtley Curtis, 77, of Spotsylvania County passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2006, surrounded by her family at Mary Washington Hospital.

She was a member of Zoan Baptist Church. She loved her job at Pratt Medical Center, where she was employed for 39 years and was blessed with many special friends and co-workers. Her love for her family was unparalleled. Every day she found joy in her family and welcomed everyone she met into the warmth and grace of her presence.

She was the beloved wife of the late Roy L. Curtis; mother of Carolyn L. Hill and her husband, James, Patricia L. Collins and Paula C. Self, all of Spotsylvania; stepmother of Lee Roy Curtis of Spotsylvania; and devoted grandmother of Richard G. Hill of Fort Huachuca, Ariz., Leroy Curtis of South Riding, Virginia, Bonnie H. Cope of Spotsylvania, Carla R. Seats of Tampa, Fla., David L. Hill of Spotsylvania and Rodney T. Self of Fredericksburg. She also is survived by 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Long and her husband, William, of Stafford County; two brothers, Marshall Kirtley and his wife, Shirley, and James T. Kirtley and his wife, Elizabeth; a special brother-in-law, Odell Curtis and his wife, Anita, of Stafford; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, with the Rev. Peyton Wiltshire, the Rev. Jeff Parson and the Rev. David Hockney officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kelly Curtis, Matthew Curtis, Steven Curtis, Carl Curtis, James Kirtley II and Troy Kirtley. Honorary pallbearer will be Thomas Curtis.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 10, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Spotsylvania Rescue Squad, Box 101, Spotsylvania, Va. 22553.
