Ellen L. Greene

Ellen Louise Greene, 84, of Locust Grove, who lived in Woodbridge from 1964 to October 2005, died Monday, March 13, 2006, at Mary Washington Hospital. She had been in declining health for several years.

She was born May 18, 1921, in Jackson, Ohio, a daughter of the late Valentine and Elizabeth Brust Young. On July 12, 1943, she married Herschel V. Greene, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are two brothers, Walter and Henry Young; and four sisters, Velva, Velma and Libby Young and Avonelle Young Ingalls; two nephews, Kenneth and Junior Ingalls; and her daughter-in-law, Bessie Wickline Greene.

She is survived by her son, Steven Joe Greene; her daughter, Barbara Greene Pase Eamigh and her husband, Robert E. Eamigh; one grandson, Capt. Christopher Colan Pase and his fiancee, Capt. Barbara Madray; one great-grandson, Caleb Michael Pase; and two stepgreat-grandsons, Shane and Dakota Dollar, all of Copperas Cove, Texas; two stepgrandsons, Christopher and Patrick Wickline of Stafford County and Spotsylvania County; and four nephews.

Ellen was a graduate of Jackson High School in Jackson, Ohio, with the class of 1940. She, along with her husband, owned and operated the former Greene's Shell Service Station on U.S. 1 in Woodbridge. She was an accomplished bookkeeper for the business and handled all the ordering of supplies and inventory. She was a devoted mother and homemaker and excelled in her cooking skills.

A private memorial service will be held for the immediate family.
