Virginia Master Naturalist chapter, Wednesday, April 5, 7 p.m., Cable Studio, Central Rappahannock Regional Library headquarters, 1201 Caroline St., downtown Fredericksburg. This meeting is being held for the formation of a Virginia Master Naturalist chapter in the Fredericksburg area. Anyone interested in helping to form a local chapter is invited to attend. The chapter will recruit and train volunteers and work with local partners to create and coordinate local natural resource volunteer service opportunities. For details, call 540/775-3062.
2006 Home Landscape Course for the Gardening Novice, Thursdays, April 6-May 25, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Rowser Building, 1739 Jefferson Davis Highway, Stafford. This eight-week workshop, sponsored by the Virginia Cooperative Extension-Stafford County Office, will provide basic gardening information for homeowners and gardening novices. The topics include: soils and fertilizers, annuals and perennials, woody ornamental identification, turf maintenance, plant insect pests, plant diseases, proper pruning and mulching and landscape design. Historic Garden Week in Virginia, Saturday, April 22-Saturday, April 29. More than 30 tours, of five to six local houses each, are conducted across the state on different days of the week by member clubs of the Garden Club of Virginia.
