Becky Gibson

Becky Gibson, 72, of Fredericksburg died Saturday, April 22, 2006, at Mary Washington Hospital. She was born March 10, 1934, in Bedford to the late Deane and Addie Moseley.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Gibson; two children, Michael and his wife, Michelle, and Stephanie Swanson and her husband, Tom; and one grandchild, Ryan Swanson.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Fredericksburg. She was an avid tennis and bridge player. She also enjoyed helping elderly people improve their reading skills.

She graduated from Bedford High School and Lynchburg College. She was an outstanding athlete at both schools. She started her teaching and coaching careers in Pittsylvania County. She then taught and coached at Caroline High School from 1955 to 1961. At this time, she took eight years off to start a family. She returned to teaching in Stafford County in 1969 as a fifth- and sixth-grade teacher. She taught in Stafford until she retired.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Mary Washington Home Health and Hospice, 5012 Southpoint Parkway, Fredericksburg, Va. 22407, or to the Presbyterian Church in Fredericksburg, 810 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, with visitation from 11 a.m. to the service time at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, with the Rev. Glynn S. Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
