Police briefs Date published: 5/25/2006 By Bill Freehling Regional police group gives out annual awards Law-enforcement officers from several Fredericksburg-area agencies were honored last week by the Rappahannock-area chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police. The organization honored officers at an annual awards ceremony last Thursday at its lodge in Spotsylvania County. Winners received a plaque at the ceremony, said state police Sgt. F.L. Tyler. Law-enforcement agencies nominated members for officer-of-the year distinction, Tyler said. Recipients were Officer John J. Cobb of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, state police Trooper Michael W. Dailey, Fredericksburg sheriff's Lt. John Gilliland, FBI Special Agent Brad Gregor, Spotsylvania sheriff's Deputy Davis B. Hart Jr., Stafford sheriff's Deputy Alex S. Smith and Fredericksburg police Detective Karen C. Stubbs. The lodge also honored Craig Peters and Curt Wehrman with the Conrad C. Brennan Award, which goes to the organization's member of the year. --Bill Freehling
