Kathleen Greenstreet and Daniel Guymon are Courtland High School's valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, for 2006.
Kathleen Greenstreet has been a National Merit Finalist; a Girls State senator; Girls State delegate; AP Scholar with distinction; member of the Courtland Scholastic Bowl team and the European History Bowl team; National Latin Exam silver and bronze medalist and honorable mention; and a member of the National Honor Society, National Latin Honor Society and Courtland High 4.0 and Above Club. She attended the Commonwealth Governor's School. In addition to her academic achievements, Kathleen played varsity basketball, volleyball and soccer; and was a member of the Latin Club, French Club and Junior Class Board; and was senior class secretary. She will attend Duke University in the fall and plans to major in political science.
Daniel Guymon was born in Leesburg and has attended school in Spotsylvania County since kindergarten. He has been interested in piano, drawing, sports and computers from a young age. He began taking piano lessons at age 8 and still plays. He draws cartoons for enjoyment. One of his favorite sports is basketball, and he also likes to run and lift weights. He attended the Commonwealth Governor's School. Because of his interest in computers, Daniel will attend Virginia Tech to study computer engineering. He received three scholarships: Dean's Scholar Scholarship, Fredericksburg Hokie Alumni Scholarship and the Robert C. Byrd Scholarship. |
