Trevor Mathews and Thomas Kirsch are Spotsylvania High School's valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, for 2006.

Trevor Mathews was a member of the Commonwealth Governor's School, earning an advanced studies diploma as well as several seals, including Community Service, Governor's and Spotsylvania County Schools Seal of Academic Excellence. While in high school he compiled 368 hours of community service through participation at the Fredericksburg SDA Community Center and Commonwealth Governor's School Orientation Program; and acting as a writing mentor at Richmond Elementary School, and as a baby sitter at Parkside Elementary School. His academic achievements include: AP Scholar with Distinction, perfect score award in the Algebra II SOL, vice president of the National Honor Society, member of honor roll, and he earned an academic letter. He played an active role in student activities programs by participating in the Envirothon, Latin Club, Academic Team and Virginia Mathematics League. He assumed leadership roles as captain of indoor and outdoor track as well as the cross country team. Trevor has earned an academic scholarship to Harvard. His parents are Coy and Christine Mathews.

Thomas Kirsch was Optimist Club student of the month last October and was class secretary in his senior year and class president his junior year. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Virginia Math League, Latin Club and National Art Honor Society. He played varsity baseball his sophomore and junior years, and was All-Batttlefield district second team catcher, All-Area Honorable Mention and received the coach's Charlie Hustle award and Unsung Hero award. He was on the varsity wrestling team for three years, placing in state and regional tournaments, and receiving the Most Valuable Player award and Coach's Award. Thomas has also been a Little League baseball coach and an altar server at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, and participated in highway cleanup, the baseball field maintenance and food drive share program. He worked part time at Johnson's remodeling and full time at Jonathan & Company. He plans to attend Virginia Tech, majoring in crop, soils and environmental science. His parents are Howard and Doris Kirsch.
