Michelle Fegeas and Nicole Fegeas are Liberty High School's co-valedictorians for 2006, and Rachael Fine and Kaichen McRae are co-salutatorians. Michelle and Nicole Fegeas are the daughters of Pattie Kewer and Robin Fegeas of Opal. Michelle has studied voice, piano and flute; was a quarterfinalist in the 2005 Washington Post Music and Dance Scholarship Awards; and received honors designation at the 2005 Student Voice Adjudication of the Virginia chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. She was selected to participate in the 2006 All-Virginia Women's Chorus. She was a member of the Junior Classical League for six years, attended the 2004 Virginia Governor's Latin Academy and was a commended student in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Michelle was a member of the Liberty Academic Team for three years, and served as captain in her senior year. She was a lacrosse referee for the Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League and played on the Liberty junior varsity lacrosse team in 10th grade. Michelle will attend the University of South Carolina Honors College to study vocal performance and classics. Her dream is to become an opera singer. Nicole was editor of the Liberty High School literary magazine, "Forte," her junior and senior years. Her poem, "There is Another Day," was published by Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth. She attended the 2005 Virginia Governor's School for Humanities and was a commended student in the National Merit Scholarship Program. She was captain of the Latin Certamen Team all four years at Liberty and was a member of the Junior Classical League and was co-president of the Liberty Chapter her junior and senior years. Nicole was a member of Film Club at Liberty, played second violin in the Piedmont Regional Orchestra and sang alto in her church choir. She has played piano since she was 5 years old, and in her spare time she enjoys reading, writing and composing music. Her goal in life is to be a writer. She will attend Princeton University. Rachael Fine is the daughter of Mark and LuAnn Fine of Remington. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Eagle Spirit Club, and was also a volunteer tutor and peer mediator. She is a senior company dancer with the Orange School of Performing Arts and has starred in the leading role of their productions for the past four years. Rachel will attend Elon University in North Carolina this fall as an Elon College Fellow and Presidential Scholarship recipient. She plans to study dance and theater arts. Kaichen McRae is the daughter of Robin Earl and Allen McRae of Goldvein. She was president of the Thespian Club and a member of the National Honor Society. She was involved at the local community theater, acting and working backstage. She holds a brown belt in Isshin-ryu-karate. Kaichen volunteers for youth soccer, the Fauquier County Public Library, the Fauquier Times- Democrat and the Fauquier Family Shelter. She will attend University of Virginia to study psychology and chemistry and hopes to pursue a career in forensic science and psychology. |
