Courtney English and Emily Cizek are Riverbend High School's valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, for 2006.
Courtney has lived in Spotsylvania County her entire life with her father, A.B.; mother, Lark; and brother, Cliff. She has danced since she was 5 years old and plans on pursuing a career in dance therapy. She attended the Commonwealth Governor's School all four years of high school and participated in the Summer Regional Governor's School Program for dance in July 2005. She will attend Virginia Commonwealth University in August with a major in psychology and a minor in dance. She hopes to take dance classes at Richmond ballet while attending school in Richmond.
Emily is the daughter of Gregory and Ellen Cizek. She graduates from Riverbend High School and the Commonwealth Governor's School. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Latin Club, Student Council Association and the field hockey and cross country teams. She has studied piano at the Anderson Piano Studio for 10 years, performing in numerous competitions and recitals, and served as a concert usher for the University of Mary Washington orchestra and the Fredericksburg Festival of the Arts. She was the pianist for two weddings and accompanied various vocal and instrumental performances. Emily kept busy during the summers traveling to Atlanta with her youth group, touring Europe on a CGS trip, volunteering at a children's hospital in Norfolk and canoeing in a CGS Chesapeake Bay Trip. She will attend Princeton University in the fall, where she plans to pursue interests in public health and education. |
