The Rev. Mark V. Ogren will be installed as superintendent of the Ashland District of the United Methodist Church tomorrow at 3 p.m. at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church. Ogren was pastor of the Fredericksburg church from 1997 to 2000, when he was transferred to lead Reveille United Methodist Church in Richmond. In moving up to the district superintendent post, Ogren will oversee a district that includes 63 churches, and take in the city of Fredericksburg and counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George, Caroline, Westmoreland, Fauquier, Hanover, Henrico, King William and King and Queen. The Methodists' Virginia Conference has 18 districts with its headquarters in Richmond. The Rev. Charlene Payne Kammerer is resident bishop of the conference, which includes 1,209 congregations and 341,346 church members. Ogren succeeds the Rev. C.B. King as Ashland District superintendent. The Fredericksburg church experienced the start of significant growth of new members while Ogren was pastor. He is married to the Rev. Margie Turbyfill, a retired United Methodist elder. They have two children, Elizabeth, a 2006 graduate of Randolph-Macon College, and Matt, a student at Duke University.
