Equine Rescue League left searching for a home, needs help
Betsy Carter's horse column
Date published: 8/11/2006

FOR THE LAST 16 years, the Equine Rescue League (ERL) has operated a rescue, rehabilitation and adoption center at Churchland Farm just outside of Leesburg.

With public help and generosity, the nonprofit ERL has made a difference in the lives of hundreds of horses, ponies, donkeys and mules. It also has aided local animal control offices, provided educational programs and participated in many community events.

Now, however, the ERL needs your help more than ever before. Loudoun County has generously allowed it to lease a farm property for over a decade and a half on a tentative basis. Recently, the ERL learned that the opportunity to lease this facility is nearly over.

The Equine Rescue League wants to continue its work in the lives of homeless equines, but will need a different location. Therefore, officials are asking for help from anyone who can help find or finance a new farm. They would appreciate assistance on procuring property, raising funds and soliciting donations or grants.

If you can help, contact the Equine Rescue League at 703/771-1240.
