Norma Jean Shephard Slaw, 79, of Hickory, N.C., died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, at Frye Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Slaw was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Wakefield Chapter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Alton Slaw, who was the previous owner of Nash & Slaw Funeral Home in King George and Colonial Beach.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Teresa Slaw of Richmond; a sister, Mary Jane Rowe of Hickory; and four sisters-in-law, Irene Buck Shephard of Vinton, Julia Lusk of Norfolk, Margaret Williams of Kinbridge and Evelyn Wooten of Blackstone. Mrs. Slaw had a great love for countless other children whom she loved and nurtured through the years.
A funeral celebrating Holy Eucharist will be held at noon Monday, Aug. 21, at Saint John's Episcopal Church in King George, with the Rev. Ron Okrasinski officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, King George, preceded by an evening memorial service by the Order of the Eastern Star, Wakefield Chapter. A committal service will follow in Saint John's Episcopal Church cemetery.
