Youth served the University of Mary Washington's mens soccer team proudly yesterday as freshman provided all of the scoring for the Eagles in a 3-0 victory over Shenandoah University at the Battleground complex.

UMW freshman Michael Johnson, Ryan Snyder and Matt Lawrey produced the goals in their second collegiate game as the Eagles improve to 2-0 on the season.

The Eagles outshot the Hornets 21-3. Goaltenders Elliott Jones and Greg Savage combined for the shutout.

The Eagles (2-0) will travel to Roanoke College on Wednesday.

Eagles goaltender Kat Brown stopped 20 of 22 shots on goal yesterday, but it was the pair that got by her that decided UMW's 2-0 loss to Lebanon Valley College.

Despite being down 0-1 and outshot 12-4 in the first half, the Eagles were still in the game until LVC's Mimi Sullivan scored off a rebound on a second-half breakaway.

Mary Washington (0-1) will host Goucher College on Wednesday in their home opener at 4:30 p.m.
