FASA Impact off to a 3-0 start

The U-18 FASA Impact improved their record to 3-0 with two more Virginia Club Champions League victories. The Impact have scored 12 goals and have yet to give up a goal in regular season play.

On Sept. 10, the Impact beat SOCA, a premiere team based out of Charlottesville, by a 5-0 score. Bailey Wilcox scored two goals and Kirsty Meyer, Korri Iracane and Becky Garrett each booted in one. Assists were recorded by Christine Kaila, Stacy Fletcher, Bailey Wilcox and Joanna Debrouse. Keeper Jamie Alcala recorded 11 saves.

On Sept. 17, the Impact defeated the Virginia Legend, a premiere team out of Williamsburg, by the same 5-0 score. Bailey Wilcox scored three goals and Meredyth Frye, Vicki Fessler and Becky Garrett each had one goal. Assists were scored for Brianna Stout, Kirsty Meyer, Vicki Fessler, Bailey Wilcox and Joanna Debrouse.

Outstanding team defensive effort was led by Stacy Hererra, Stacy Fletcher, Kayla Patterson, Christine Kaila, Titania Kizer and Syd Hitchens as the Impact did not allow a goal in either game. With the help of her teammates, keeper Jamie Alcala recorded her third shutout of the VCCL season and eighth including tournament games.

The Impact turned in a very impressive performance at the PWSI Invitational Tournament over Labor Day weekend. Playing in the Champions Division the Impact finished strong at 1-1-1, scoring three goals while allowing two. The Impact defeated the U-19 Arlington Flash, a Washington Area Girls Soccer league Division 1 team, and fought to a 0-0 draw with the SYC Galaxy, another WAGS U-19 Division 1 team. Goals at the showcase event were scored by Kara Blosser, Bailey Wilcox and Becky Garrett. Assists were from Stacy Fletcher, Kara Blosser and Christine Kaila.
