Locks of Love fundraiser donates 20 ponytails
Skin Appeal provided free haircuts on Sept. 25 to anyone who was willing to donate their cast-off tresses to Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization that specializes in providing prosthetic hair pieces to children living with medical hair loss.
More than 20 people scheduled appointments to have their hair cut off for Locks of Love. Starbucks, Edible Arrangements
A new hairstyle was just the beginning of the free makeovers offered. Professional photographs were provided by Griffith Photography before and after the haircuts for the Locks of Love participants. Skin Appeal's estheticians applied Bioelements makeup after the cuts were completed.
Donors represented all walks of life. Both children and adults joined in to support this great cause. Blond, brunette and red locks of 10 inches or more were cut off and sent away to Locks of Love. One woman contributed over 16 inches of hair.
Skin Appeal has always been a quiet advocate of Locks of Love. In the past, anyone that has been interested in donating their hair has been able to bring their hair in to Skin Appeal and the spa would send it off for the donor.
Any monetary contributions that participants made were sent directly to Locks of Love. There also were raffle tickets sold to raise additional money for the cause. Locks of Love depends on the generosity of people willing to donate their long locks of hair to make the hairpieces. Many of the donors at the event shared a common memory of friends or family members who had struggled with cancer. Even the smallest donation can make a big change in someone's life.
