The University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams both finished in the top four at the Division III South Regional championships Saturday in Atlanta, Ga.
The men's team finished fourth with 162 points, following team winter Centre College, Rhodes College and Emory. Justin Kirk finished sixth overall with a time of 26:20 and Frank DeVar placed 13th with a time of 26:38. Both received all-region honors and Kirk will compete in the Division III national championships next week in Wilmington, Ohio, next Saturday.
The women's team tied with Washington & Lee for third place with 106, following team winner Emory and Trinity (Texas). Ann Tripp, who was named to the all-region team, placed eighth overall with a time of 23:37 while Allison Hazlett finished 13th with a 24:00. Both Tripp and Hazlett will run in the national championships.
SWIMMING
The Eagles men's and wommen's teams swept a dual meet with Catholic Saturday at Goolrick Gymnasium. The Eagle women improve to 4-1 with its 132-61 victory, while the men better their record to 3-2 with a 121-76 win.
Both teams will compete at the Maryland Invitational Thursday through Saturday.
