Chancellor gets first win

The Chancellor girls basketball team used a solid defensive stand in the final 10 seconds and held on for its first win of the season, 36-34, against visiting Caroline last night.

Stephanie King keyed the win going 5-for-8 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.

Jasmine Frazier grabbed eight rebounds for the Chargers (1-7, 1-3), who visit Riverbend Friday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL JM 61, King George 48

James Monroe earned a win at King George last night to remain unbeaten in Battlefield District action heading into tonight's key home match-up with Riverbend.

Bilnita Armstead led JM (7-3, 4-0) with 22 points, six rebounds, three steals and three assists. Brittni Fisher added nine boards.

Kara Brabant scored 11 of her 15 points in the final period for the Foxes, who visit Caroline on Friday. Ariel Ward had 11 rebounds and Stephanie Watts added nine.
