P. C. editorialists must be blind to the menace of Islam

Date published: 1/13/2007

In the Jan. 4 editorial "Goode goes bad," the ostrich-like editorial staff of The Free Lance-Star denounces Rep. Goode's warning "that Muslims have no business holding elective office in the United States" ["Goode goes bad," Jan. 4].

The Free Lance-Star then goes on to say, "It says that right there in whatever document he carries in his breast pocket where a copy of the Constitution should be."

I am sure that Rep. Goode knows chapter and verse what the Constitution says, including freedom of religion.

However, should religious freedom include an Islam that advocates the use of governmental powers to convert infidels (read Christian, Jew, Hindu, et al.) to its religion?

Perhaps what Goode carried in his breast pocket was a copy of the Quran as translated to the English by Muhammad Zafrulla Khan, the first foreign minister of Pakistan, president of the 17th U.N. General Assembly, and a former member of the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

This translation is at our Central Rappahannock Regional Library.

In it, The Free Lance-Star would find the following messages: 1) the cause of Allah is submission to Allah and his religious dictates; 2) all people are to convert to Islam and submit to Allah; 3) the Muslims or Believers are, if necessary, to force the submission of all people to Allah; and 4) when a majority of a country's population is converted to Islam, the government is to be used to enforce the Islamic code on all the population.

Perhaps the politically correct editorial staff should pull its head out of the sand.

Islam?? (posted by TicklemeElfmo , Sep. 25, 2007 2:41 pm)
I find Humor in people who are living in the past. I suspect a lot of Christians don't even go to church. We are aware of the crazy, power hungry , which reside in every religion and political arena. The ten commandments are pretty much accepted in law in generic form. The laws of Islam , such as chop off the hands of thiefs, kill people who change their religion, homosexuals belong in mental institutes. its ok to lie if it furthers the cause of Islam, all non Muslims pay a tax for not being Muslim.

Painful Facts (posted by Aquaclara , Sep. 25, 2007 2:41 pm)
All rhetoric aside, Islam, in practice, promotes religious tyranny. For example, Saudi Arabia flat out bans Christianity. How's that for religious tolerance? So, why is this a problem for the you and me? In the old days immigrants adopted our values and traditions. Todays Muslim immigrants enter our country with a belief system that is at odds with American values. And, as seen in Europe, they have zero inclination to adopt the values and traditions of their new home.

One Sided Argument (posted by error404 , Sep. 25, 2007 2:41 pm)
You talk about government converting infidels to their religion, but what about schools displaying the 10 Comandments and showing preference to a single religion? Christians are no better. They want religion in all apsects of government also. Afraid of the competition eh? I find humor in your one-sided arguments.
