Columnist predicts Golden Globe wins
It's time for the Golden Globe awards. Here's who should win
Date published: 1/14/2007
TOMORROW BRINGS us the 2007 Golden Globe awards. Every year I stare at the TV, praying that voters caught the brain waves I always send when they are deciding the winners. I scream in horror or triumph when the names are called.
This year I'm bringing you my predictions as to who should win at tomorrow's ceremony, in the hope that if I put them in writing I have a better chance of being right.
Best Drama
Nominees:
"24"
"Big Love"
"Grey's Anatomy"
"Heroes"
"Lost"
Who should win: "Heroes."
This show has totally rocked me and the rest of the people who are tuning in so far this season. I never guess where they are going next with the plot. Unlike "Lost," "Heroes" gives its audience answers much more quickly. The cast members are terrific, and you can't help but love every single one of them.
Who will win: Grey's Anatomy.
Let's face it; it is a terrific show, has great writing and is the critic's darling. At this point, I can't see anything beating it.
Best Comedy
Nominees:
"Desperate Housewives"
"Entourage"
"The Office"
"Ugly Betty"
"Weeds"
Who should win: "Ugly Betty."
It's arguably the best new show this season. The cast shines and it has a great leading lady. If any new show deserves to be recognized at this year's Globes, this is it
Who will win:
Toss up between "The Office" and "Ugly Betty." Voters for the Globes like to give credit to freshmen series so "Ugly Betty" has a good chance of winning, but "The Office" just might beat it out. I can't really comment on whether "The Office" should win as I don't get to watch it often, but from what I have read and heard it is a really strong contender.
Best Actor: Drama Series
Nominees:
Patrick Dempsey ("Grey's Anatomy")
Michael C. Hall ("Dexter")
Hugh Laurie ("House")
Bill Paxton ("Big Love")
Kiefer Sutherland ("24")
Who should win: Patrick Dempsey.
Reason for this choice? He's just so McDreamy oh and a good actor on top of that. I suppose that should count for something.
Who will win: Michael C. Hall.
