FRED hires assistant transit manager

FREDericksburg Regional Transit has selected an assistant transit manager.

Wendy Kimball will start work at FRED on Feb. 5. Kimball is currently a community development planner for the city of Fredericksburg.

"We're very excited about her coming to FRED," said Kathleen Beck, FRED transit manager. "It's been a long time coming for us to get a transit manager, and she's going to be a great fit."

Kimball's duties will include applying for grant funding, overseeing new route planning and managing projects.

Kimball graduated from Mary Washington College in 1990. She is finishing a master's degree in planning at the University of Virginia. She has worked in the city planning office for more than 12 years.
